Storyboarding Concept Art

This is some stuff I did earlier in the semester for my Storyboarding class. At the beginning of the class, we were given the choice of 3 short stories/poems to storyboard - I chose Jabberwocky. We have a lot of latitude as to the interpretation of the story, but I figured I'd play the hero's struggle theme of the poem pretty straight while having fun with the designs. Most of the character drawings are on paper, but here are some concepts:

An idea for the tranquil but lonely-looking place that the hero is trekking through at the beginning of the story.

The forest where the Bandersnatch lives.

Jabberwock!

Early early design for the protagonist. Kinda boring, but CATS.

Hiding from the Jabberwock.

Lion vs. Jabberwock vs. weird cropping.

More stuff to come!

Alien Head

I made this prop for a crew member's short film assignment. The film called exclusively for tightly framed close-ups of the alien, none of which would show anything other than the head. It's a really simple affair, not meant to be a costume or a puppet in the real sense of the term, as it is neither conveniently wearable nor designed with a wide range of movement. The jaw has a slight capacity to open and close.
I started with chicken wire:

Paper mache coated in gesso, round LEDs for eyes with translucent red paper over them:
Painted with acrylics:
The end. Happy holidays!
