Too long, ref http://twittey.deviantart.com/ Left eye, oops.

Half done, must go faster! Learned a LOT. Hands functioning great, YES!!

What I thought I already knew, but actually learned today:

1. Know what the main areas of value are (understand what the light is doing) rather than chase the correct values while rendering.
2. Know when to stop.
3. Practice rendering more geometric shapes.
4. While working, don't forget to eat. Or blink.

Getting totally immersed in work is a gift and a curse.

Seriously?

Ok, so those heads were terrible. I can do better than that. And if not, I will by next week.
Here's 1.5 hrs without ref. Then back to quick studies only.

Storyboarding Concept Art

This is some stuff I did earlier in the semester for my Storyboarding class. At the beginning of the class, we were given the choice of 3 short stories/poems to storyboard - I chose Jabberwocky. We have a lot of latitude as to the interpretation of the story, but I figured I'd play the hero's struggle theme of the poem pretty straight while having fun with the designs. Most of the character drawings are on paper, but here are some concepts:

An idea for the tranquil but lonely-looking place that the hero is trekking through at the beginning of the story.

The forest where the Bandersnatch lives.

Jabberwock!

Early early design for the protagonist. Kinda boring, but CATS.

Hiding from the Jabberwock.

Lion vs. Jabberwock vs. weird cropping.

More stuff to come!
